Drywall Installation & Repair ServicesAs a professional drywaller, we have learned to cope with some taping problems and learned some tricks on fixing it. When installing drywall, the most challenging part of it is taping and mudding. This procedure can even be more sophisticated when you involve armatures to install the boards for you.
How to Choose Commercial Drywall Contractors
When evaluating a company for your handyman services, we propose you use our guidelines below: 1. Research About the Company
When you go hunting for drywall contractors in Richmond, make sure you research the contractors in detail. Do not just settle down for one company but rather have a list to peruse through. Conduct a simple google search on the internet and check out online reviews. Reviews on google maps are generally honest reviews, and through them, you will be able to get a feel of the kind of service to expect 2. Consider the Skills and Experience
We have heard this argument for a long time now. "If we hire experienced drywallers, will they not be expensive?" To answer this question, you need to look at it from a different angle. If you hire an amateur, then you risk incurring more costs than you should. For example, if the roof is not installed correctly, it might sag, and you will be forced to incur additional expenses to repair it. |

3. Ask a Few Questions
Once you narrow down your selection to a few sheetrock installers, give them a call and ask them a few questions about drywall testing and their services. Describe the scope of work you need done and let them give you a few suggestions on how they will best handle the project. It is through this Q&A session that you will better understand contractors.

4. Check out for Licenses and Insurance
The golden rule of this industry is that you should never hire an unlicensed drywall contractor. A licensed contractor should give you peace of mind because they are qualified for the job. They should also be insured in case of any unforeseen events that may lead to bodily harm. 5. Get an Estimate
You can get an estimate either by using a drywall estimator or by instructing a company to give you a quote. Make sure you have estimates from at least three or more companies before contracting out the work. When you receive the quote, make sure to ask whether it is a final quote or just an estimate. If it is a final quote, pay the indicated amount after the job has been done. |

SHEETROCK INSTALLATION
Modern homes prefer to have gypsum installed because it is less messy than plaster and has numerous benefits. For example, you can install a green board in the bathroom because it is water-resistant.
Sheetrock is purchased in panels. When they arrive at the site, they are cut into different suitable sizes depending on the design and fit. In most cases, these panels are 4 feet wide, 6- 12 feet long, and have a thickness of ¼ - 5/8. Once we have identified and bought the right boards, we hang them on the wall, and the joints are taped. Tapping is a process in which a fiberglass drywall joint tape or a paper tap covers the joints. Several layers of tapping mud are then applied over the tap and sand for a perfect finish. |
5 MOST COMMON CAUSES OF DRYWALL & HOW TO REPAIR IT

Popping Nails
Popping nails are a result of poorly secured nails in the studs or joists. When you spot such nails, do not try to use a hammer for popping them out because this may result in more damage. Once you spot such a nail, give us a call, and we will evaluate the damage done. We will then use a unique tool to remove the nail, find where the stud is, and re-nail it again.

Furniture Marks
Furniture marks are a result of placing chairs, tables, and sofas too close to the wall. When they have been moved around, they unintentionally scratch the wall resulting in unsightly marks. If it is just minor damage, then a cleaning sponge will do the trick.
However, if the marks have already ripped pieces of the panels apart, then we will either use a drywall filler or replace the entire section.

Bigger Hole Damages
Maybe you accidentally tripped and hit your head on the wall, or a wrecking ball crashed through the wall. The kind of repair done will depend on the size of the hole made. When repairing a big hole, we cut the damaged area and insert a new board on the cut space. The edges are then cleaned up, and a joint compound is applied to the tapped area. Water Damages
Another common problem that affects drywall is water damage. Leaking pipes mostly cause water damage, and the only solution for this is to replace the damaged section with a new one. This reduces the chances of mold growing in your house. |
TYPES OF DRYWALL TEXTURES
Gypsum board textures are categorized into two based on their method of application. These textures are either hand textures or spray foam textures. Hand textures result from being manually applied, while spray foam textures result from using a pumping machine. Other types of textures include:
Skip Trowel Texture
This texture is achieved when a trowel skips over a joint compound in a random and arching manner. The style adds character to the walls and is ideal for hiding wall imperfections. Hawk & Trowel Texture
This type of texture comprises layers of drywall mud overflowing over each other, creating a water wave-like appearance. It is made possible because of two main tools known as the hawk and trowel. Swirl Texture
The swirl texture is mostly used on ceilings though it has recently been used on walls. The texture leaves half-circle swirl patterns and if you prefer a rough look, silica sand can be used. |
Stomp Knockdown Texture
The stomp knockdown texture is created using a know down knife. Drywall mud is first applied on the surface texture, and then a soft brush is used to stamp patterns on the wall. We prefer to use an all-purpose mud with more glue-like properties than ordinary mud when creating the stomp knockdown texture.
